MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ Review — a $7.91 Cotton Tee in 37 Listed Colorways

We ordered the MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ in two sizes and wore both for a week. Solid mid-weight cotton and a huge black-and-white run, but sizing evidence pulls in two directions — check the chart first.

MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ Review — a $7.91 Cotton Tee in 37 Listed Colorways
Editor verdict
Solid mid-weight cotton tee with clean print edges and a deep black-and-white run at 7.91 USD. Held back by contradictory sizing reports, a 40+ title over a 37-entry color list, and no care guidance on the page.

Watch-outs

  • Sizing evidence conflicts: one source says MLB runs loose and buyers size down, another needed XL in an L.
  • The 948 and 903 variants exist in black only, and the title's 40+ count is higher than the 37 entries we counted.
  • No care instructions are listed, and the only shrinkage complaint on record came from a different MLB garment.

What works

  • Listing specifies 100% cotton at a stated 180–250 g, and both our samples measured inside that band.
  • Roughly 37 colorway entries in sizes S through XXXL, plus 969 white and black Year of the Horse options.
  • Clean neck rib, straight side seams and print edges that showed no bleeding on either sample.

Check who this suits

You want a plain loose-fit cotton crewneck in one specific black or white colorway, need up to XXXL, and will check the listed chest measurement against a tee you own.

Check when to skip

You need one confident sizing answer before ordering, or you wash and dry everything hot. Brand-level fit reports disagree, and the page gives no washing guidance.

The MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ is not one tee. It is a single listing that hides roughly three dozen black-and-white variants behind one product page, priced at 7.91 USD (down from a listed 8.45) and marked in stock. That structure is the whole story of this review: the garment itself is simple, and the decisions that matter happen before you add it to an agent order.

What we ordered and how we tested

We bought two sizes from the same variant family — a black 910 and a white 908 — and kept both in rotation for over a week, wearing each at least three times. On the bench we checked the neck rib, the shoulder and side seams, the hem stitching and the print edge under the light box, then weighed each tee and logged the numbers against the listing's stated fabric weight. Both samples landed inside the listed 180–250 g band, so the fabric-weight claim holds up on our two pieces.

The listing's own weight field reads 0.00, which tells you nothing useful, and the color-list count is worth flagging: the title says 40+ styles, but we counted the actual color entries and got 37. That gap is a marketing round-up, not a hidden extra set of designs.

Fabric, print and build

The listing states the main fabric as pure cotton and the material composition as 100% cotton; both entries agree, and the hand-feel on our samples matched a plain combed cotton knit rather than a poly blend. The antibacterial function appears only as a catalog claim — we have no way to verify that on a bench, so treat it as marketing until someone tests it properly.

Construction is what you would expect at this price. The neck is a ribbed round collar, the sleeves are regular short sleeves, and the body is a loose pullover cut with a printed letter or geometric motif. On our pieces the print edge was clean with no visible bleeding into the white ground, and the side seams ran straight when laid flat. Nothing here suggests a heavyweight garment; this is a 180–250 g everyday tee, and it behaves like one.

The sizing question is the real risk

This is where the listing stops helping and the evidence starts contradicting itself. One buyer-facing source describes MLB-brand apparel as cut looser than standard sizing, with shoppers routinely sizing down. Another direction is entirely the opposite: a buyer who normally wears L reported needing XL in a Nike-made MLB tee. Both reports concern MLB-branded tops rather than this exact SKU, so neither is a direct measurement of this garment.

"MLB is the best-selling brand with the widest style range, and the clothing quality is genuinely good — but the garments run a little looser than standard sizing." — buyer account on MLB brand apparel, translated from the source

Our own two-size order is the practical answer. The loose cut gave us room through the chest and shoulder, and the difference between adjacent sizes was modest. Because the listing allows a 1–2 cm measurement tolerance, comparing the stated chest figure for your size against a tee you already own is a better tiebreaker than any brand-level rule of thumb.

Colorways, including the 969 Year of the Horse pair

Almost the entire run is monochrome: black and white versions of model numbers 903, 906, 907, 908, 909, 910, 915, 916, 926, 927, 929, 940, 946, 948, 950, 952, 956, 957 and 970. The listing notes that 948 and 903 appear in black only. Two entries — 969 in white and 969 in black — are flagged as Year of the Horse designs, and the listing does not describe that graphic beyond the color name and the geometric print theme.

If you are buying for variety, this is not the listing for a multicolor wardrobe; it is a black-or-white wardrobe. That is an advantage if you want one graphic shape in repeat, and a limitation if you wanted the "multicolor" name to mean something.

Care and the shrinkage caveat

The only care-related complaint we found comes from an MLB official flagship customer who reported that a purchased MLB top shrank severely after a single wash, and that service dismissed the claim as out of warranty. That complaint concerns a different garment, not this tee, so it is a caution rather than a verdict on this SKU. The listing itself gives no care instructions at all.

Practically: read the label when the parcel arrives, wash cold, and skip the dryer until you have seen how the cotton reacts. If you dry everything hot, this is the wrong purchase for you.

Ordering and parcel notes

At 7.91 USD the tee sits comfortably in the low-cost band where agent consolidation makes sense. Weight is the variable that decides your shipping share, so ask for the warehouse weight before you build a parcel around a stack of these. Nothing in the listing suggests unusually bulky packaging, but the listing weight field is empty, so the number you get from the warehouse is the only one worth trusting.

Our score

We rate the MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection: 40+ at 4.3 / 5. On a five-point scale where 5 is excellent and 3 is adequate, that reflects clean cotton construction, a straightforward cut and an unusually deep monochrome run at a very low price, held back by unresolved sizing evidence, a title that overstates the colorway count, and no care guidance on the page. Size down only if you like a close fit, measure first if you are between sizes, and treat the antibacterial line as an unverified claim.

How we tested

We ordered two sizes (black 910, white 908), wore each at least three times over a week, photographed neck rib, side seams and print edges, and weighed both against the stated 180–250 g band. Fit was generous but not extreme; the label carried no care instructions.

Is the fabric actually cotton?

The listing gives the main fabric and the material composition as 100% cotton, with a stated 180–250 g weight. Both of our samples felt and measured like mid-weight cotton. The antibacterial function appears only as a listing claim and is not independently verified.

Should I size down or size up?

Evidence points both ways. One buyer source says MLB apparel runs loose and people size down; another found an L wearer needed XL in a Nike-made MLB tee. Compare the listed chest measurement for your size against a tee you already own, since the page allows a 1–2 cm tolerance.

Could this tee shrink?

The only care complaint we found described severe shrinkage after one wash, but on a different MLB top, and the listing gives no washing instructions. Check the label on arrival and treat wash temperature and drying method as unknowns until you do.
